PXE Server Setup Service for Gaming Venues

ggCircuit's PXE server setup service provisions the server, prepares your network, builds the master disk image, and validates booting on your own hardware — so every gaming PC boots over the network from one centrally managed image instead of a local Windows install. It is delivered remotely or on-site and built on ggRock, our diskless boot platform.

A PXE server is what makes that possible, but getting there takes more than installing software: the server has to be provisioned correctly, the network has to deliver boot traffic reliably, and the image has to be validated on the exact hardware sitting on your floor.

Whether you are opening a new center or converting an existing room of PCs, the goal is the same: a plug-and-play PXE server build that your staff can operate without becoming network engineers. This page explains what the deployment includes, how remote and on-site delivery work, and what happens after handover.

What a PXE Server Deployment Involves

A working PXE environment has four parts that must agree with each other: the server, the network, the disk image, and the client machines. Our setup service treats each one as its own step with its own acceptance check.

Server Provisioning

We start with the machine that will serve images to your floor. That means installing ggRock on an on-premise server, laying out its disk arrays so OS images, game libraries, and per-PC writeback each have the storage they need, and confirming the server can sustain the load of a full room booting and playing at once.

Network Preparation

PXE boot depends on your network: client PCs broadcast for a boot server when they power on, and DHCP has to answer with the right pointers before Windows ever loads. We review your DHCP configuration, switching, and cabling, set the options that direct machines to the ggRock server, and verify that boot traffic flows cleanly even when many PCs start at the same time.

Image Creation

Next we build your master image: Windows, drivers, your game library, and the ggLeap client if you run it, captured as a ggRock image with snapshots at each milestone. Snapshots let us apply a change made on one machine to every other machine, and they give you rollback points if a future update misbehaves.

Validation on Venue Hardware

An image that boots in a lab proves little; it has to boot on your hardware. We PXE-boot every hardware configuration on your floor, relying on ggRock's Seamless Boot to detect and install the correct NIC drivers for each configuration automatically. We then confirm session behavior: that changes made during play are discarded on reboot, and that any per-PC writeback you want to keep is configured correctly.

Remote or On-Site Deployment

ggCircuit delivers the PXE server setup service in two ways. Most venues choose remote deployment: our team works with you over a screen-share and direct access to the server, configuring ggRock, building the image, and walking your staff through each validation step on a schedule that fits around your opening hours. ggRock's virtual machines also let us maintain and update images remotely later without taking over a physical gaming PC.

If you prefer hands-on help — or you are commissioning a brand-new venue without IT staff — the SpecOps Managed Services Team provides on-site installation support, handling the server, the network checks, and floor validation in person.

Handover and Training

A deployment is finished when your team can run it without us. Before we close the project, we hand over documentation of the server configuration, network settings, and image structure, and we train your staff on the day-to-day tools in ggRock: powering machines on and off, assigning images and snapshots, applying a change from one PC to the rest of the floor, scheduling boots ahead of opening, and rolling back to a known-good snapshot. Active Directory environments are covered as well — ggRock supports AD, which matters for universities and schools.

Ongoing Maintenance, If You Want It

After handover you can run the system yourself, with 24/7 live chat support from ggCircuit whenever questions come up. Venues that would rather not manage updates can add a Managed Services Agreement: the SpecOps team applies daily game updates to your images, so the update-once, play-everywhere model of ggRock keeps working without your staff touching the server. Either way, because ggRock applies image changes venue-wide, maintenance effort stays flat whether you run twenty PCs or two hundred.

Built on ggRock, Working with ggLeap

The platform underneath the PXE server setup service is ggRock, ggCircuit's diskless boot software. Everything configured during deployment — machines management, images and snapshots, the boot scheduler, writeback policy — remains yours to operate from the ggRock console afterward. If you run ggLeap for venue management, the two work together and share computer names, hardware information, and configuration, so the infrastructure layer and the operations layer describe the same floor.
